Clear the Message/VM Lamp (Red Light on Desk Phone)

Symptoms: "My phones red light is on but I do not have any voicemails."

Cause: When a staff member calls a desk from another extension, they have the option to set a callback lamp light.  A callback light indicates to the other staff member that you want to be called back when they are available to talk.

The Callback feature causes the receiving phone's light to turn on red and stays illuminated until it is cleared by calling back the the person who set it. 

SOLUTIONS

OPTION 1) 

If you have a red light, you can clear it by picking up your receiver handset and pressing the MESSAGE button on the phone.  This will automatically dial the extension of the person who set the callback.  Once the callback extension picks up the receiver, your red light will turn off.  If they do not pickup, your light will not clear keeping the reminder that you and the other staff member still need to connect and talk.

OPTION 2) 

To manually remove the red lamp light without doing the above steps (or if the steps above did not succeed), you can use the following star code.

Pickup the handset and dial *700 + EXT

( For example, if your extension was 123 you would press *700123 )

You can perform the Star Code on any extension from any other extension.  So if you want to clear the light for someone else, you can perform the steps from your phone as long as you put in their extension after the *700
